This is a fantasy art painting inspired by Arthurian legend. The picture shows the wizard Merlin wandering through the fields and forests near the magical kingdom of Camelot searching for herbs and berries. It is the night of a super moon - that moment in time when the moon is at its closest point to the earth during its orbit and thus appears much larger in size to the onlooker. At such times the apparent extra brightness of the moon adds extra drama to the night. Many people attribute special powers to the moon and in fact many farmers throughout the world plant and harvest their crops according to the phases of the moon. Arthurian Legend has provided a rich source of inspiration to artists, writers and poets and I couldn't wait to start painting once the basic idea for this scene entered my thoughts. Merlin is harvesting herbs and berries at this special time in order to extract as much magic and medicine as possible for his many potions.

Hello and welcome to my gallery. I have always enjoyed art but especially the disciplines of sketching and painting. The most influential period of my life was the time shared with my children when they were very young. I recall the happy hours spent with them drawing and painting pictures and telling stories. Children have a wonderful ability to combine these activities in a unique and magical way. This experience taught me that paintings which can produce a good story have a very special appeal. So, if children can make a story from a picture, why not everyone else?
