This is such a great thought evoking photo because besides it having such beautiful sepia colors and subtle light - it has a really great timeless quality about it. One could ask, is it a wreck from 500 years ago - or from 1000 years in the future.

nice mood. good processing to, like the sepia

Kym Backland replied:

Jim, Thanks so much for your critique. I really like Sepia now! I used to be a black and white person, but I've found these ships photos seem to look better in Sepia. I have lots of OLD original ship photos, and they all are in sepia tone. Not sure if that is because they are old, or because that is how they were printed so many, many years ago!

Artist's Description

I know, everyone takes a photo of the remains of the Iredale! But it's nice to get out there when there are no people. It really is quite the site..The ship was named after Peter Iredale, who not only owned the vessel as part of his shipping fleet, but was also a well-known figure in Liverpool, England, where his business was headquartered.

The ship was built in Maryport in June 1890, by R. Ritson & Co Ltd for P. Iredale & Porter. It weighed 2,075 tons and measured 87 meters (285 ft) in length and was fashioned from steel plates on an iron frame. It had royal sails above double top and topgallant sails, and was the largest vessel built by Ritson. The ship was originally commanded by Captain G.A. Brown and later by Captain H. Lawrence.
This ship is located in Oregon State

About Kym Backland

Kym Backland

Capturing a moment in time, is one of the best emotions. I love seeing something thru the lens and holding it near you as long as you can. I like for that image to be caught by surprise. A pure emotion. That to me is usually the most interesting. Anyways.... Photography is my medium. I do enjoy photographing those "Funny Animals" I see along the way........Laughter gets you thru a lot of hard times...I appreciate you taking the time to see what I see..... As you might have noticed I have never written a biography about myself for over 2 years. I figured I had better write one now. I'm definitely not going to write my "BIO" in the third person, so that I sound more important than I really am. Should I warn you that I have "run on"...
