Artist's Description

"The Steam Shovel" is a large steam-powered excavating machine designed for lifting and moving material such as rock and soil. It is the earliest type of power shovel or excavator. They played a major role in public works in the 19th and early 20th century, being key to the construction of railroads. (Wikipedia) I found this piece sitting in the Orange Empire Railroad Museum. It's a massive conglomeration, and would never be thought of as sporty! I worked the photograph into a Pen and Ink style finish. The decay and rust broke down (pun intended) real well as textures and patterns. Almost romantically.... USE THE MAGNIFIER TO GET AN UP CLOSE VIEW OF THE FINISH. About Glenn McCarthy Art and Photography

Glenn McCarthy Art and Photography

Welcome to McCarthy Art Here's A Little Bit About Me: I became immersed in the business of art in 1989 as an owner and operator of three art galleries. In the 21st Century, I have focused my efforts as a visual recorder and an instigator of the imagination. Here's What I Do: I strive to capture scenes, moments, places or thoughts... a lasting impression to the viewer! My forte is not found in one style, theme, or stereotype ... but in the variety of scenes that many might just pass right on by without notice. Perhaps we need to pause a bit longer and enjoy a hot beverage and a bit of conversation along the way. Click the Gallery of your choice and begin your journey. God Bless, Glenn ALL GLENN MCCARTHY...
