About Rick Moore
My name is Rick Moore and I am a blind artist. I grew up at the Kentucky School for the Blind in Louisville, Kentucky. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music from the University of Louisville. I started drawing at age three and would occupy myself for hours sitting at the coffee table with pencil and paper. I began formal study of art in 1983 at Ballard High School under the exceptional tutelage of Mrs. Barbara Hester. Having essentially no color vision, I gravitated towards pencil drawing and when really pushed, monochromatic paintings. Pencil is still my favorite medium.
