About the Image

Tower of Uppsala Castle - Sweden by David Hill

Uppsala Castle was central to many important events of European history during the 17th century. It was built under direction of: King Gustav Vasa and originally constructed in the 1550s. In 1757, it was rebuilt, its function becoming more that of a palace than a military building. Later, it was the administrative centre of Uppland and the site of the Hall of State (Rikssalen). ---------- This image has received the honour of being featured in the following FAA groups: - The Best 1000 Artworks - FAA Featured Images - Antique Digital Photography - Old Buildings and Ruins - Art from the Past - PhotosRUs - Beauty - Anything Old - The European Artists 2013 - Loving the Colour Orange - Small Showroom - Beauty Captured -...
