I doubt I'll soon forget seeing this coming down the streets in the Colonial Mexican city of Oaxaca. As soon as I saw this obviously custom VW camper van, I had to get a photo, but the coup de grace was when he hit the mark in the intersection for this picture, I saw the poodle looking out the van window.

That was the moment that I was most reminded of Steinbeck's "Travels With Charley." Granted, the chosen vehicle is much different and probably more homely, but I bet that guy has some pretty interesting stories of his own. To me that's the fun behind this particular photo, imagining the stories that may have come before and after, about this man's adventures in Mexico. Perhaps I'm just fanciful by nature?

Still, I'm glad to have been standing on that particular street corner in Oaxaca that afternoon just at the right time for our paths to cross however momentary it may have been.
