A beautiful aqua vase with three pink tulips, against a backdrop of my Grandmother's patchwork quilt. Texture applied. Vintage art.
In my Grandmother's day, quilts were made of whatever scraps of cloth left over from sewing her's and her children's clothes. Back in that day, she would buy staples like beans and flour and chicken feed that came in print sacks. The depression was on, and a person scraped by however they must. Grandma
would cut out a pattern and sew clothing from those feedsacks.
So whatever scraps were left over, she used for quilts. No particular pattern, nothing fancy, just something to put on the beds and keep her family warm in the winter.
This quilt, washed many times, worn and faded, has come to me. I love it's soft colors. The quilt fits my Grandmother's personality, it's soft yellow fits her gentle demeanor and sunny disposition.
