This painting is a guide to some seasonal fruits in the Philippines. If you use your imagination and cut the painting into 12 rows with the bottom row being January, you'll see what I mean.
Almost all of them are looking at one lady carrying the bananas. Why? Admiration with a little envy. Bananas are the number one fruit export of the Philippines. Bananas and plantains also rank as the fourth most consumed staple crop in the world after rice, wheat and corn.
I am a Filipino painter. I paint stories that spans both ends of the emotional spectrum- happy, sad, or somewhere in between.
Aside from the Philippines, my works have found their way to collectors in Australia, Canada, Dubai, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, UK and the USA.
