A cool early summer day down at the Cibolo Creek is a perfect place to spend a few hours painting en plein air. The Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne, TX offers quiet and peace, plenty of shade, and always something new to paint. There is a place where two branches of the creek converge, and is one of my favorite spots to sit, reflect, and paint. Across the way are twin cypresses that each have 4'-5' diameters.

I discovered painting as a teenager in high school. Friends and I used to draw race cars and space ships that were intricately detailed. I branched out into drawing and painting imagined landscapes of the hill country in Texas. My love of the Texas Hill Country helped me form my earliest desires of recreating those images in paint. I painted a large mural on my bedroom wall of the Texas hills. A friend of mine saw it, and asked her mother if I could paint one on her bedroom wall too. Much to my surprise, her mother approved, and I created my second mural. During my first semester in college, I discovered I had a talent for painting watercolors, and painted several landscapes of scenes in Central Texas. I left college to join the Coast...
