Description
The fragrant twinflower grows in woodlands and forests of Canada. Although the home of this small elegant, sweet-scented evergreen is in open, cool, mossy coniferous woods, it quite often ascends to and even beyond timberline. It's tiny, dry fruits are sticky from tiny, hooked bristles and readily become attached to the fur of animals or the feathers of woodland birds. The genus Linnaea was named for the Swedish botanist, Linnaeus, the father of modern taxonomy, with whom this pretty little plant was a favourite.
