Halloween and autumn are my favorite times of the year. I even named my daughter Autumn. This drawing is from a photo made by my father-in-law, John Van Hoy around 1949 or 1950. The kids in the photo are all neighborhood friends and my brother-in-law, Larry is the hobo, second from right. The original has the kids cut out and elevated by tabs over the autumn background.
I am a life long resident of Paducah, Kentucky and began drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. I attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where I majored in fine art. I left school after my sopomore year to get married. Unfortunately, I let my art take a backseat while trying to make a living. Recently, my hometown has begun the Artist Relocation Program. The Paducah area is full of people coming together from all over the country, forming a community of artists. This encouraged me to get back to work on my own art.
