Upstream to the bridge - Take a walk upstream, enjoy the wild flowers and the colourful grasses and look along the riverbank to see the old stone bridge. In late summer this is a beautiful place to walk out onto the hills near Dalwhinnie in the Scottish Highlands. Not far from the Drumochter pass this is one of the coldest places in Scotland during winter.
The bridge built by General George Wade circa 1728 and spans the River Truim a tributary of the mighty River Spey. During the Jacobite uprising.the bridge was used by troops traveling along the military road to and from Ruthven Barracks at Kingussie.
