About the Image

Vanishing Into the Darkness by Anthony Wilder

In the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the Indian Rhinoceros was hunted relentlessly until in 1910, officials aware of the plummeting numbers prohibited rhino hunting. Habitat loss is also a daily issue. With help from the WWF the Indian and Nepalese governments continue to work toward Indian Rhino conservation.
