Born in 1971, Monday Beam was immersed in the hippy-cholo subculture that epitomized southern California in the 70s. Termed "So Cal", the laid back lifestyle made a lasting impact on him as a young child. A mix of low rider cars, gangster mentality, and the peace and love movement resulted in a unique dichotomy of life philosophies which has carried over into his art. Two seemingly disparate worlds collided in his parents, and Monday was the product of that unlikely union. Having attended 12 schools in 12 years, he developed an affinity towards the creative and frequently elevated his life experience to whimsical status via his sketch drawings starting at the age of six.
