...This old abandoned trestle
deep in the Smoky Mountains
of North Carolina used to carry
the Lexington and Nashville Line.
The trestle bridge goes over
the Valley River in Murphy,
North Carolina in the western area
of the Nantahala National Forest.
A river trail leads to this trestle
and makes a wonderful little hike
from the Konaheeta Park
along the Valley River...
An old railroad car
still sits at the station
just a long block away,
while the old trestle
is waiting for the train.....

on the big cumulus clouds
and on the scattered leaves
on the weathered track...
