This painting makes me happy!! The colors are really fun and, like his other pieces I own, expertly painted. I want to live in this cottage and walk into the ocean. Ordered it on canvas - well executed. Thank you for the smiles!

Artist's Description
Cocoa, bought to become my pet and family cow, is a Jersey-Angus Cross. All I know about her Daddy is that he was an Angus herd bull. Last month, she looked like she was turning all black, so I assumed he was Black Angus (which is worth a few more pennies per pound in California), but when I took her Teenage photo (at seven months) I found she is now turning red in some places... either sun bleach or Papa is a Red Angus. Doesn't matter, she has the Jersey sweetness and is developing the beef body, so we'll love her off-spring for beef. Red or Black, taste the same! Grass, home raised cost about the same as grocery store beef, (supplement alfalfa, shots, butchering and packing) but, oh is it ever better! I'll wait until December or January to breed her so we will have a fall calf.
About Susan Lee Clark
As an artist, I am awed by and in love with all of God's creation! Painting landscapes, portraits of people and animals, I try to depict the essence of that individual subject. Often I will take photographs before and after some quick sketches, jotting down notes on the sketch about the color, or feeling of the piece and then begin painting. But, with portraits, sometimes having the subject actually present is not possible. Then, I need to get to know the subject, through discussion with a person who did actually know, or through biographies, photos, old paintings. Before I paint an animal or a person or even landscape, I must know about them so that I may "capture the essence" of the subject. Just looking at a photograph is not...

Susan this is a great painting I like it the way the cows head is turned to look at you. I am like a kid when I see cows in the field I can be driving down a country road and I see some and I shout " Look Cows!!" it always cracks everyone up and I always want to stop and go to the fence. Strange I know but cows like attention and I think they get overlooked cause of there size.anyways... Voted and Favorite
Susan Lee Clark replied:
Sue is right! Cows are very curious regarding people, and even other animals, cats and dogs, can become friends with cows with time!
