An oil painting of my last dog, as a pup.... a Chow Chow mix. He was a great dog, loved to play, and would have given his life to protect me.
Chow Chow is a type of breed originally from China, where it's name means puffy-lion dog. The bread is know for a very dense double coat. The coat may be red, black, blue,cinnamon/fawn or cream.
The breed is distinguished by it's unusual blue-black/purple tongue and very straight hind legs. One other distinctive feature is the curly tail. It has thick hair and lies curled on its back. The blue-black/purple tongue gene appears to be dominant, as almost all mixed breed dogs that come from a Chow Chow retain the tongue color.

I started getting serious about photography in the mid seventies. It took me a while to switch from film to digital, but now I'm a total convert. Although I try to get the best shot possible in camera, I'm a big fan of post-processing. I love the creativity that's possible with a digital camera and a "computer darkroom". I've painted off and on for most of my life with oil and acrylics, so I can't resist the temptation to turn a lot of my photos into digital paintings. I also love color, and like to really make it "pop" sometimes.
I'm a Florida native now living in the mountains of Georgia, in an area known as the Enchanted Valley. There is plenty of beautiful scenery and interesting things to shoot.
