As a typical summer day in Central Florida, it was warm and rainy. I parked my van out in the middle of a field that had been an orange grove not too long ago. Now it is a grassy field with stumps. It is about a mile from my neighborhood. Sitting in the tailgate, I was just beginning to paint in the gray sky when it began to rain in ernest. I closed up my easel and threw it quickly in the van and went home without having accomplished much of anything.

The following day, I actually was able to get some serious painting done even as various passers-by stopped to comment on my work. A neighbor asked if I knew the story of the house. I didn't and asked what it was. He answered that it was very very old before he hurried off. Another man stopped by. He asked me the same question. I responded as I had before. He explained that it was very very old and that his brother-in-law owned it. It should be declared an historical landmark but the paperwork hasn't been done.

Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography. I studied mostly engineering in college but ended up with a degree in Technical Illustration, one in Psychology after several moves and colleges, one in Art Education. My experience as a...
