This painting makes me happy!! The colors are really fun and, like his other pieces I own, expertly painted. I want to live in this cottage and walk into the ocean. Ordered it on canvas - well executed. Thank you for the smiles!

About Duane R Probus
Duane was raised in rural Kentucky on a non-motorized farm. His favorite recreation activity was riding his horse along with his dog throughout the adjacent hills and hollows. He has always had a keen obsession for studying nature. This provided Duane with material, knowledge and a romantic feel for scenes not normally experienced in today's modern world. While in high school Duane got involved in the only art classes available to the area at the time. Correspondence courses through the Minneapolis Art Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Duane had an opportunity to study a year under Clause Hausseman in Frankfort, Germany, in that he was stationed at nearby Rhein Mein Air Force Base. After the Air Force, Duane attended the...

Your painting when time stands still has been my grandmothers wall in her living room my whole life. I'm 40 now and she passed and its mine and I was wanting to know if it is an original or print or what? She was from rural Kentucky also.

I have a large framed painting of this. There’s a number in bottom corner 1497 or it may be 497. What year was this one done?
Duane R Probus replied:
Karen....Don't know what the number represents...This piece was painted in the mid 60's.....Hope you have enjoyed it

Leslie....Thanks for the great compliments....Glad you have enjoyed the picture.....As to returning color to a reproduction.....Don't know....You might adding fresh paint....If you do, use oil....Easier to match colors ...Oil can be used over water base....But, not the other way around.....Good luck ....Again, many thanks

I think I have the original of this painting in my living room. It’s on canvas. They look like real brush strokes to me. Is there any way I can tell?

Mr. Probus, I grew up with this image hanging behind our couch. It had been there for years. My grandmother had purchased it for my mom at a starving artist sale in Ohio. Mom always loved it because it reminded her of her grandfathers farm in Kentucky. It was destroyed years ago and I thought we would never see it again. I did a google search Sunday using an old photograph I had cropped with this print in the background. To my delight it matched to this site. I was only able to order the greeting card copy today but when our budget allows I will be replacing my Moms beloved print in full size. I wanted to thank you sir for sharing your talent with the world. God is good all the time.

Mine also says "the tender years". Not sure where it came from or when but my grandma gave it to me. And it's not colored like this one. It is more like a blue tint to it with a wooden frame. Very beautiful like a vintage vibe. Love this picture. It reminds me of my childhood at my grandmas house.

Ruth.....If your piece is on canvas.....Take it to your local Art museum....Ask for an authority capable of analyzing original art....If it is not on canvas, it is a reproduction....Hope you enjoy it...
