These Pennsylvania Dutch treats will make you say Whoopie! Whoopie pies are historically made in the Pennsylvania Dutch culture from leftover cake batter. Local Amish historians say when children would find these treats in their lunch bags, they would shout whoopie! These delicious pies were made by me in my home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 8.22.10 in celebration of my mother’s 67th birthday. Getting in touch with my Pennsylvania Dutch roots, I opted to follow an old traditional family recipe. I also used flour, sugar and buttermilk that I procured in Lancaster County. They may not look fancy but they sure tasted yummy! Enjoy!!! Canon EOS Rebel T2i, f/4, exp. 1/60 sec, ISO 400, 24 mm, flash - compulsory
Hello!!! I’m a Central Pennsylvania photographer that has a passion for nature (yes, some would say that I am a ‘tree hugger’ and I’m okay with that!), wildlife and animals in general. Thanks for looking at my work!
