Description
There's something about the open road that's just special. It has a great metaphorical value - suggesting the unknown future - full of potential but somewhere on the distant horizon!
This particular rural landscape is special to me because it's from near Montezuma in Macon County where I grew up. It's a part of the state somewhere between the old Appalachian mountains in the north and the flat lands of deep south Georgia. Georgia actually has an amazing diversity in terrain. In my part of the state, one moment, you may be driving through rolling hills, and around the next curve the landscape opens up and it's wide and open like this. And almost invariably, when you hit those wide opens spaces, you find yourself in the midst of a farmer's fields.
If you look on the horizon here you see farm buildings and a farmer's house. Aren't they perfectly accented against the sunset-painted-sky?
