... Early fall brings out the many varieties of wildflowers in the pastures. North Carolina is full of small farms and old barns. This one has a brilliant red metal roof and old weathered wood. The purple asters grow tall in the meadow while "Smartweed" gathers around the long fenceline in a tangle of pink shades. A willow tree graces the edge of the pasture behind the barn as the sunlight touches the leaves of all of the plants in this Smoky Mountain meadow. Part of the Blue Ridge mountains, this is western North Carolina where the mountains meet the valleys and streams and whitewater rapids flow near-by...
