Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. We live in 2 different cities & are comrades & would do anything for each other. When I saw it in the website I knew I had to buy it. Great work. Artist's Description
This painting was made using reference to the painting Jean Leon Gerome Ferris who painted the original around 1900. That painting is in the public domain in the United States. Jan painted it by looking at a picture of the original. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell along with the American Eagle were added.
An attempt was made by Jan Mecklenburg to show that Ben Franklin was 70 and Jefferson and John Adams were in their 30s.The scroll under the Liberty bell shows the words cast on the bell. The words across the top of the canvas are from the Declaration itself.
The men in the painting are Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson who wrote most of the Declaration of Independence. The American eagle, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall where the Declaration was adopted are also shown. There was no American flag at this time.

FINDING INSPIRATION TO CREATE FINE ART Nature is an inspiration for many of Jans paintings. She feels encouraged to paint by her surroundings at home in Trabuco Canyon. There are four huge Live Oaks on her property and people have horses, a goat and chickens nearby. There are about a hundred homes in this rural California community at an elevation of about 500 feet at the base of Saddleback Mountain. It gets hot in the summer and rains for a few weeks in the winter. MISSION SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO Jan fell in love with Mission San Juan Capistrano that is a short drive from her home. She spent many days at Mission San Jan Capistrano and has painted many mission scenes. Some of her many photos are displayed. Jan's scenes are embellished...
