I was returning to my car after an attempt to get sunset pictures at the pass at Fort Pickens when I saw this blooming yucca plant. The moon was overhead and so I just had to see what kind of picture it would make. I used a flash to illuminate the plant so that it would not just fall into darkness.
Richard is a native of Pensacola, Florida. He has always been interested in art but has only explored painting for a relatively short period in his life. Briefly in the mid 70s when he worked for one year in oils and was a member of the Quayside Art Gallery of Pensacola. In recent years , since 1999, he has concentrated on the medium of watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media painting. Most recently he has included photography in his bag of tricks.
Richard paints primarily as a realist and enjoys painting a variety of subjects. He also takes his inspiration from the beautiful vistas and prominent landmarks of the Florida Gulf Coast and his home town Pensacola.
