Yunomi Dreams is inspired by a ceramic yunomi or Japanese tea bowl that I made several years ago. This is the glazed bottom of the bowl photographed and abstracted as a water color image. Yunomi Dreams is available as print on demand at Fine Art America.
"A Birth Certificate shows that you were born, a Death Certificate shows that you died, AND photos show that you lived." I have recently returned to the north country and I'm now excited to call the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts home. After visiting this area several times in the past we knew this is where we had to be. Now the fall colors, Berkshires, White Mountains, Green Mountains, waterfalls and quaint New England towns and tree tunnel back roads are easily within a few minutes or several hours drive with subjects galore waiting to be photographed. Previously I lived in and photographed across Northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota for over 30 years. After retiring from a career in education, I pursued interests as a nature...

Beautiful Bill. I had a ceramic teacher many years ago who rigged up his camera to a microscope and what a wonderful world of the crystalline structure of some glazes was revealed. I wish I had taken more interest in the photographic side of it now. There are many glazes which are formulated to encourage crystalline growth but the real art is in the controlled cooling of the kiln allowing them time to form. Sorry, too much information LOL l/f
Bill Morgenstern replied:
Thanks for your compliment and story Denise. I often make my own wood ash glazes and find beauty on the pot as well as grand abstracts for the camera .
