The almost symmetric pavilion was originally named 'Stadtpavillon' but it was renamed after a carillon made from finest Meissen Porcelain was installed on its Sophientor in 1933. Every 15 minutes Meissen Porcelain bells record the passage of time by playing an especially for the carillon composed melodie, and, depending on the season, well known melodies like Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons", Humperdinck's "Evening Prayer" ("Abendsegen" - "Hänsel und Gretel") or Carl Maria von Weber's "Jägerchor" (Freischütz) can be heard at special times.
