Ana Bikic has been an active advocate for the environment using her artistic talents to further awareness for many years in South Florida. Professionally trained in the fine arts in Argentina and Europe , Ana challenges medium and technique in acrylic that few fine artists can achieve with brushwork only. The print collection of carved block on blackcard evoke a mourning for each creature she illuminates .
The EcoSymbolism Art web site that Ana created in 2006 has drawn the attention of the International Print Society and the Vienna Art publishers. In December 2007 Ana will be exhibiting at the Florence Biennal in Italy having been invited by the Internal Scientific & International Committees. Ana will be exhibiting at the Books and Books Gallery in Feb./ Mar. 2008 in Coral Gables , where she will celebrate the ' Year of the Reef ' with her astonishing canvases of South Florida's marine life.
The International Society for Coral Reef Studies 35th edition ,Nov. 07 features one of Ana's poly block prints as front cover image.
Ana believes that art should inspire us to protect our natural world. That the language of visual symbols are a responsibility as well as a tool to educate and inspire values .
Ana Bikic is co owner of Trompushka Inc with her husband . They promote wood graining as an alternative to using rare and tropical woods from endangered rain forests. Techniques include watercolor and oriental procedures that were developed by historical cultures when demand and supply were excessive for fine woods.
Presently lives in Miami. Florida with her husband Artist William Mark Coulthard & Alexander Felix Her son.
Ana grew up in the mountains of Cordoba , Argentina and nature has been her inspiration from an early age .
'She is an advocate of Environmental & Peace issues and considers these dilemmas foremost as subjects for her creativity and expression. '
