I have loved drawing and art for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I used to sit across the street from where I lived and I would draw my house, our car, or whatever I was looking at. I just loved to draw! As I grew older, I didn't pursue my drawing or any other type of art medium. I did, however, find myself sketching and doodling when I was bored or just needed to relax.
My true artistic side began to emerge about 2004 shortly before Christmas. I wanted to do something special for my Mom and Dad. I am an avid hunter and always take my sketch pad with me to my deer stand. I had been sketching whatever I saw through the little windows in my stands, so drawing was clearly imbedded in my mind. The thought occurred that if I could draw animals and scenery, then surely I could also draw people. What a better gift to give Grandma and Grandpa but a drawing of their grandson who they hadn't seen for nearly four years!
That was my first portrait, and I have been drawing people ever since. Until I began to see the tears of joy and surprise on people's faces when they receive the gift of a hand-drawn portrait of themselves or of a loved one, I did not realize that drawing was something I could do that would truly make a difference in people's lives. God has given me this talent and I love to use it even more now that I know I can touch someone's heart in a special way.
More recently, I have begun to dabble in painting. I have been using mainly acrylic paint on canvas. I painted a blue poppy as a birthday gift for a friend and have done a number of abstract and surreal pieces since that time. Bringing a blank, white canvas to life is such a joy! I have several pieces currently for sale or I would be more than happy to create a custom piece for you.
I can produce a beautiful, original piece of art from the photographs you send. Please visit my Gallery for a sampling of my works.
