I'm a native Northwesterner (from eastern Washington State) and find much of my inspiration from the beautiful setting in which I live and my Native American heritage (Oklahoma Cherokee). I've been drawing since before I could write and began painting not long after that. I'm mostly self taught and don't really believe in putting myself in any category. Landscapes are my first and deepest love although I also have enjoyed painting portraits and animals as well. I started out with oil paints but have since switched to acrylics since I love their ease of use and immediacy. I've also been using watercolors as a sketching medium and have really come to enjoy the spontaneity they allow me. In terms of style I tend to expressionism instead of a totally realistic viewpoint, but all of my paintings have recognizable subject matter. My main goal is to capture the absolute essence of what I see and feel when a scene captures my spirit.
Why am I on Fine Art America? Well, I gave up on galleries nearly 2 decades ago since I never really felt that I got my money's worth and it seemed that selling through galleries was not only a bunch a pretentious nonsense, but it was pricing my artwork out of the range of most of the people I really want to have my paintings. The online art world seems to be a much better deal for everyone involved and I hope to soon have more of my older items as well as some of new more experimental pieces on this site soon. Hopefully some of my old customers will enjoy seeing my work again and maybe I'll have some new ones as well. In any case I hope everyone who see's my work gets a reminder that we live in a strange and beautiful world!
