My name is Dale Jackson. I am a traditional as well as digital artist. I have been drawing and painting with pencils, colored pencils, acrylics and pen & ink for over 30 years. With regard to digital art I started that in the mid 1980's with the Commodore 64, and this field has certainly come a long way in the last 30+ years. I love both traditional and digital media.
During the late 80's and early 90's I worked as an an apprentice for a duo-color print shop with a graphic design addition. I was also a photographer using a Pentax K-1000 manual camera. I developed my own b/w photography as well as prepare plates for the press. I also did layout and editor work the old fashioned way using grid-paper layouts and rubber cement which when finished and proofed, we sent to another full color printer. This was pre-digital days and we just started getting into Photoshop in the early 90's.
Today I produce original digital works of art as well as digitally enhanced pieces where I transform photography into paintings. I love to digitally paint aircraft, landscapes, seascapes and many other subjects as well. I also produce acrylic and oil paintings, photographed or scanned in as prints. In addition, I draw with traditional pencils and with pen & ink and I even do some technical illustration.
I've always had a love for aviation. I grew up around planes on USAF bases and often spent afternoons with my sketch book drawing them. When I was out of college I entered the USAF and was a crew chief on the KC-135. I'm particularly fond of military aviation, historical and modern. For me, drawing and painting aviation art is a burst of nostalgia and a history lesson. I'm honored to have had the opportunity to do some 'nose art' on various USAF aircraft.
Here are some updates for my work on my raptor series which is starting with the Bald Eagle and then followed by the Peregrine Falcon, Osprey, Golden Eagle, Eagle Owl, Great Horned Owl.

Something I edited together, adding sound and music. In dedication to the Space Shuttle program, and memorial to the crews who perished in the Challenger and Columbia disasters.
