David C. Lyons was born in Lancashire in the North West of England and has lived there all his life. He paints mainly aspects of the area which at first may seem nostalgic but references have been gathered from current locations so everything is as it really is. Old tractors rust away in the fields and cats sit in front of lace covered windows. Chickens still play in the farm yards and cows still gaze over dry stone walls. His work was recently described as having a 'feel good' factor.
He paints mainly in Alkyd Oils on heavily textured boards previously used as a palette and in this way achieves a unique surface on which to create the painting. Underpainting can often be seen and incorporating this into the work creates a freshness and vitality which defines David's style.
He was made a Fellow of the British Society of Painters in 2001 and his work has been sold throughout the world. He has held many exhibitions and won numerous National and International prizes. He has also had pictures and articles published in such magazines as International Artist, The Artist, The National Exhibition Centre Catalogue, Lancashire Life, etc.
