I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After completion of the carpentry apprenticeship program in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1974, I started working as a journeyman carpenter. In the early 90s I began to explore furniture restoration and design, which led to the establishment of a group of like minded craftspeople and the launch of the company Heritage Restoration in Alberta.
I moved to Vancouver several years ago where I continued to develop wood skills. Since then, I have had the opportunity to explore the use of other media in my work. The metal, stone and clay have encouraged me to use the centuries old knowledge of the golden proportion in my designs. Very often the wood itself suggests to me how to reveal its beauty.
