Born in 1939, L. Shankara Narayana Achar lives and works in Mysore, India. His Artistic talent and creativity are evident in all his art works. His watercolor Art works evidenced by some of his vibrant compositions appear to be his forte through his Landscape paintings and his depiction of modernity in Indian, western and folklore styles are equally impressive.
L.S.N Achar is such an artist who has brought to life the characters created by writers in Kannada magazines for over three decades. His works have been published by a number of magazines, including ‘Gokula’, ‘Mallige’, ‘Kailasa’, ‘Janapragathi’, ‘Prajamata’ and ‘Sudha’. Before the more sophisticated color transparencies invaded the magazines. Achar also did a number of cover illustrations.
He got the autographs from the former President of India and former Vice President of India with their appreciation on their portraits prepared by him. When the Mysore state was christened Karnataka on 1st. November 1963, he did a series of posters for an exhibition at the banquet hall in Vidhansoudha Bangalore, sponsored by India book House.
Though he received no formal training, Achar’s inherent artistic ability was honed by his father Halladakeri Narayana Achar and later by F.M. Sofi. L.S.N Achar has also received training from national–award winner Shilpi Narasimhachar and from Shilpi Nagendra Stapathi in Shipa Vidyalaya, Mysore. Having been born at Mysore, the landscapes and historic buildings provided enough grist to Achar’s talent. He has in fact excelled in landscape paintings of the historic monuments in different parts of the state.
Even after joining government services, Achar continued his favourite hobby doing illustrations for prestigious publications as the Indian Book House and Bharata – Bharati Series brought out by the Rastrothana Parishat.
He has held solo shows which have evoked a lot of interest as testified in the voluminous books he has treasured. His Art works are in private and public collections. He was a Member of Karnataka Lalithakala Academy. L.S.N.Achar lives and works in Mysore.
