Michael has been painting since the 1960's, and his works are in many private collections. He was trained by his dad and studied at Springfield College and the Worcester Art Museum.
Michael works mostly in transparent watercolor, and he often paints plein air on location. For years, Michael has painted along the Cape Cod and Newport Beach shores and marinas. He has also painted many scenes from the Adirondacks region of upstate New York. He is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and the Sonoran Arts League.
Michael has been represented by galleries on Cape Cod, in Jay, NY, Worcester and Sterling, MA. He has also been featured in an exhibit at the former Chester Heywood mansion in Worcester, MA.
Michael also paints in oils and does commission works in both watercolor and oil. He has designed numerous greeting cards including a series featuring the Goodwill Games in Lake Placid. He has donated works and participated in events for the Why Me program, Ducks Unlimited, Arts for Aids, and the Women's Shelter Program.
Presently, Michael lives in Cave Creek, Arizona and is working on a series of Southwestern desert landscapes and western paintings. Visit him at Michael McGrath Art.
