I am the creator of Inner Voice Drawing®, an intuitive drawing technique that works on a simple Q & A formula and taps into the wisdom of the unconscious. The Inner Voice Drawing (IVD) method can be used on a personal level to retrieve valuable answers to all questions of life as well as an artistic tool to draw from our most authentic, creative self. I have lived for ten years in Nepal under the auspices of outstanding Tibetan Buddhist masters and have a Ph.D. in Tibetan Studies. Inner Voice Drawing evolved in 1996 out of my training in meditation, Buddhist psychology, and -not to forget- life changing personal turmoil :)
I use IVD as a tool of advice for myself and enjoy teaching the method to others, to individual clients as well as in workshops. I never stop to be amazed how accurate the drawings can be in response to the questions asked. The freedom of drawing from within, without any preconceived idea about the outcome, has also allowed me the freedom to use IVD in an artistic way. Most of my art work is based on the Inner Voice Drawing process. My artistic goal is to combine humor with wisdom that will joyfully connect the viewer with his/her own deeper self.
I work primarily in colored pencil, often layered over a base of watercolor/gouache or acrylic. I am inspired by wisdom sayings, Buddhist thought, Tarot, poetry, my own quirky sense of humor, and the curiosity about the outcome by simply asking a question, such as 'what is today's wisdom?' The result of those 'wisdom drawings' can be found at the gallery 'The Universe Is Smiling' and on my BLOG http://monikakretschmar.blogspot.com.
