Born during the Great Depression in Los Angeles. Started drawing as a child during Word War II. Formal art training at Chouinard Art Institute, Los Angeles in the 1950s. Earned a B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology at California State University, Los Anegels in the 1970s. Held various jobs including Jazz saxaphonist, truck driver, silk screen printer, industrial photograher and technical writer before becoming a full-time artist in 2003.
