I am a woman with a passion for photography. Mostly self taught, I have had a camera in my hands since the age of 12 when I picked up my father's old Argus 35 mm camera. As I age I find it gives me an escape from the binds of disability. As an arthritis sufferer, photography gives me a moments release from the confines of my daily life. I enjoy capturing the beauty that nature has to offer no matter the subject. If I can get to it, I'll shoot it. I am a proud member of one of Minnesota's largest photography clubs in Red Wing with a growing membership of over 100 artists of all skill levels and enjoy teaching beginners what I have learned over the years. I currently am an instructor for the club in Composition, Critique, Portrait Lighting and assist in Intermediate SLR classes where we delve into the exposure triangle and take the mystery out of all those settings on your camera other than the green 'Auto' setting.
My greatest focus over the past few years has been floral photography and improving my skills in landscape and macro. I even dove headfirst into the world of Model Photography with limited success. My physical limitations don't allow me to pursue that portion as much as I would like. I work to figure out ways to overcome some of my limitations to 'get the shot'. Hopefully I can be an inspiration to others with physical limitations that you too can pick up your camera and capture your world beautifully.
Born and raised in Illinois, I made the transition to Minnesota in 1991 after a stint in Iowa. Minnesota has a multitude of photo opportunities! From beautiful landscapes to big city lights, to county fairs. There is a wide variety of landscapes in the area which range from rolling prairies to river bluffs and everything in between. I have yet to explore many areas here but have them on my 'bucket list'.
