The paths I've followed during my time in the design world have often crossed over, doubled back, strayed into obscure corners and culminated in a wide appreciation for a multitude of disciplines. These include spells as a paperback designer, typographer for one of London’s oldest advertising agencies, a retoucher at Letraset, packaging and corporate identity designer for a leading design group, visualiser with a blue chip motivational multinational and a Soho based creative ad agency, an illustrator, a cardboard engineer, a point-of-sale and premium promotion designer, freelance stints with Saatchi & Saatchi as a stage-set and exhibition designer as well as designing 'shop-in-shop' interiors for Conrans.
Running my studio for a number of years in the heart of London’s West End was a real treat, followed by a time with Moorgate, the City’s financial marketing agency, launching unit trusts and investment products. Next was a delightful time commuting backwards and forwards to parts of Ireland to market the launch of an insurance company, and later to develop products and market services for the Irish Brokers Association.
For the last ten years or more, I've concentrated on design and management projects for the construction industry, providing creative direction in advertising, promotions, literature, corporate identity and exhibition. Forays into creative concept and design direction projects in fashion, IT, finance, education literature and various others of interest to me have helped to prevent complacency. Some of the results of recent efforts are on www.david-davies-creative.co.uk (a slow server!).
Creating imagery for posters and book covers, as well as to add to my art print gallery, has now become a strong passion for me; something that gets me up in the morning when the sun breaks up the night, and later, something that keeps me up until the early morning hours, when I just don’t want to leave a design or an image unfinished.
Anyway, please judge for yourself.
Take a cruise through the work on show here, and if you need an explanation about any of the items, I’ll be pleased to talk to you. Also, if you have the time, take a look at my image gallery site at www.daviddaviesimagery.com (sorry – it is also a bit of a slow server).
