'If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud.” Émile Zola
Growing up on the plains of South Dakota, Rebecca Davis has always loved open spaces. A big sky with a visible horizon makes her feel as though she is drifting in a world much larger than herself and more wonderful than she can conceive. With such inspiration around her, she began to sketch at an early age.
As a mostly self-taught artist, Rebecca spent a few years investigating the various mediums of art. She finally found watercolor and fell madly in love with it. 'Its transparent hues are beautiful and the way water interacts with color is simply amazing.” With a wild passion for color, Rebecca could finally transform all those sketches into amazing paintings.
Rebecca is inspired by nature, both from her rural days in South Dakota and by the coastal waterways of eastern North Carolina where she lives now. Landscapes featuring trees, water, sunsets, and barns will be in abundance. You can also find abstracts and non-objective art in acrylic, watercolor and digital.
Rebecca's art reflects everything that gives her soul joy and fulfillment. Her free-spirited nature insures that she keeps learning and applying new things to keep life and art interesting.
Her work is in numerous private collections and a mural is permanently displayed in a public school in Elizabeth City, NC.
