Many thanks to the collector who recently purchased prints of my Mudra paintings!
I love the mystery and the beauty of all life forms. Look here for original paintings in oil and pastel - portraits, dancers, divine figures that exude wisdom, peace and tranquility. I practice yoga and value the equanimity that this discipline cultivates. I am fascinated with the beauty and power of mudras and love the hands as a subject for painting.
I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. Drawing was a constant source of delight for me as a child, and a teen.
I worked on Wall Street in my early twenties, immersed in business pursuits. In my late twenties, an artist friend challenged me to reconnect with my artistic side. The experience was exhilarating. I began to leave the office early to go directly to life drawing sessions in Soho, looking slightly out of place in my grey pin stripe business suit. I also took classes at the Art Students League, and devoted all spare time to my passion. I also drew inspiration from the world class art collections in New York.
From New York, I moved to London, taking full advantage of the rich culture there. I studied with Michael Chaitow concentrating on objective drawing skills and also began to work in a more intuitive way. I was able to travel extensively throughout Europe and study the work of the masters. I studied landscape painting in France and portraiture while living in London. I began painting portraits by commission in 2002.
I am currently residing in Vancouver Washington where I work from my home studio, painting portraits by commission--both people and pets. I an animal lover and am gradually finding ways to employ my art to benefit dogs, elephants and horses in need.
