Aleksandra is a fine artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Arizona State University and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fashion Design from Phoenix College . She lives and works in Phoenix , Arizona . She moved form Bosnia and Herzegovina (Former Yugoslavia) in 1997 with her family. Her mural projects include Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center Playground murals, Paradise Valley Community College 'Justice' mural and Echo Canyon Elementary School in Phoenix playground mural. From July- August 2009, she was an artist in residence through the Scottsdale Public Art Program at the Gallery@Library( Civic Center Library). Her solo exhibit 'Dream World'featured 12 new and some older paintings. She painted on location and interacted with the public 3 days a week.
She taught drawing at the Jewish Family Services Center in Phoenix. At Paradise Valley Community College she teaches various art classes in the Continuing Education Division. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows .
She works in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Color inspires her the most. An array of different subjects is evident in her paintings and drawings. Aleksandra is accepting commissions.
Currently she is a floor facilitator with the Children's Museum of Phoenix http://www.childrensmuseumofphoenix.org in Phoenix, AZ and an assistant preparator at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA http://www.smoca.org/ ) in Scottsdale, AZ. You can view her Desert themed paintings on the third floor of the Children's Museum (an ongoing exhibit).

Painting from Photographs: Oil / Acrylic
Individual and unique styles will be encouraged as you learn about oil & acrylic paints and how to use either to create paintings from a personal photo or favorite picture. Manipulate, enlarge, crop and combine images to create dynamic compositions.

Introduction to Oil Painting
If you want to learn about oils, this is for you! Learn about brushes, paints, mediums, palettes and other basics with demonstrations of various techniques such as dry brush, toned ground, all prima painting, working with painting knives and glazing.

Summer Art Adventure (Ages 9-12)
Anyone can create great artwork! It’s just a matter of learning how to look! We will explore color and shade to make three-dimensional looking objects. Using simple shapes such as circles, ovals and triangles you will learn to draw animals and people. To help you get proportions exactly right in your art, you will learn how to use the grid. This class is meant to encourage creativity and teach you basic art principles while having fun creating. Materials are included!
