Alla Parsons was born and raised in Russia. After she moved to the US she earned BFA in painting from the Minnesota State University Moorhead and MFA in 2D studio art from Georgia Southern University. From the Artist Statement: 'My work is figurative and imaginative. I use figure in an imaginary landscape or interior to explore human emotions, feelings and memories. I use life models as well as photos of myself and old family photos. My paintings explore my physical, psychological and spiritual self as well as my memories, family history and my Russian heritage. Many artists inspire me today, among them Leonor Fini, Rene Magritte, Andy Wyeth, Paula Rego and Katherine Ace.'
