Allan East was born in England and grew up in Toronto, Canada. After high school, he moved to Southern California to pursue his art studies. He attended Pasadena City College and California State University at Long Beach where he received his B.A. and Master's degrees in Art History. He was an art teacher for 30 years at Lemoore High School in Lemoore, California, and at El Camino High School in LaMirada, California.
