To create a singular moment that envelopes and transports the viewer beyond self, if only for an instant, is what Amy S. Turner attempts to do as an artist. With each piece, be they large or small, Amy draws upon vivid imagination, a love of detail and a quirky sense of humor to create a bit of escapism for those who view her artwork. Whether it be for competitions, exhibitions, illustration, publication or commissioned work...beyond the technical expertise of her finished 'product,' you will always see that little spark of humor and dream-inspired vision woven into her work.
Amy only began creating her personal portfolio in earnest beginning in 2000 but has been a self-employed graphic designer, working in one aspect of the profession or another, for over 20 years. Because her larger works involve so much detail, they are slow to be finished...which only allows her enough time to create 3 to 4 per year. To spur her in this renewed creative chapter, Amy joined several art groups: Plainfield Art League in 2007 and The Colored Pencil Society of America (National and Chicago Chapter) in 2007, to name but two. Since joining these and others, Amy has exhibited nationally, regionally and locally, winning numerous awards and accolades for her work, and has sold and shipped her work around the globe to points as far as Germany and New Zealand. She calls Plainfield Art League her home base where she currently teaches colored pencil classes in her spare time.
In the future, you might recognize Amy's work in a few children's books that she is contemplating at the moment...projects that she has been looking to do for quite some time. But there will always be new artwork forthcoming because she has a sketchbook filled with enough ideas to last several lifetimes!
'Please! Feel free to contact me if my work has touched you or you have questions/comments...I love getting feedback and touching base with other artists and creative people! Thank you much for coming to look at my work!'
