“Artistic ability is a gift but also requires study, imagination and hard work,” says Anju Saran. Born in Lucknow, India, Anju’s paintings have appeared in numerous exhibitions, and brought her recognition and awards. Her cartoons and illustrations have appeared in Indian newspapers and magazines such as Times of India, Lucknow City Magazine in India and Indian Express in USA etc. Anju started displaying her artistic abilities at an early age of 5 years. Her initial concentration was on paintings and portraits using oil colors and charcoal. As she refined her artistic talent by completing her Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Anju adopted the use of acrylic and pastel colors as well and became equally proficient in all these mediums. Even though she specializes in portraits and figure paintings, her versatility helps her in working with landscapes, floral, and still life, etc.
After moving to the United States in 1995, Anju continued her quest for learning. She received advanced training in Graphics Design and Animation from School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Multi-Media from New York University (NYU). She has a loving son and a supportive husband who always encourages her talents.
Anju has been working as an Artist, a Musician, and a Graphic Artist. She teaches art and paintings and music to children as well as adults various locations such as Morris County Art Association, Boonton; Michaels, Parsippany.
Participated and received awards in National and State level competitions organized by Lalit Kala Academy and Lalit Kala Kendra in Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai. Exhibited paintings in several exhibitions in New York and New Jersey.
