Ann Radley - Fine Artist

Vancouver, WA - United States

I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. Drawing was a constant source of delight for me as a child, and subject for exploration in my teens. In my early twenties, I worked in the financial sector in New York, devoting myself completely to pursuits in the business world. In my late twenties, a dear friend challenged me to reconnect with my artistic side. The experience was exhilarating. I began to sneek away from the office early, just to go to a local life drawing studio in Soho. I spent evenings and weekends drawing and studying the human form. My appreciation of art was also greatly enhanced by the world class art collections in New York.

From New York, I moved to London, taking advantage of the rich culture there to continue my study of art. I studied with Michael Chaitow over a period of years concentrating on objective drawing skills and at the same time I began to work in a more intuitive way. I was able to travel extensively throughout Europe and to benefit from exposure to work of the masters. I was fortunate to be able to study landscape painting in France and to study portraiture while living in London.

I began painting portraits by commission in 2002, while still residing in London. I am currently residing in Vancouver Washington where I work from my home studio.
