Anthony Manfredo

I am a Fine Art/ Wedding photographer based in upstate New York. Every since I was a kid I would love to draw. (and of course getting in trouble in school for it !!) I knew I wanted to grow up and do something with art, but didn't know which way to go with it. My dad and I had taken a trip to Athens, Greece when I was 12 and I shot a ton of pictures(with a Kodak Disc camera!). I really loved it! This was my first taste of photography.

Out of high school, In 1989, I went to college and received an associates in Graphic Design.(Still confused at this point!) Here I had taken mandatory photography classes and had a portfolio started. My professors actually are the ones who brought to my attention that my photography was much stronger than my design work. So I went on and majored in photography.

After graduating In 1994, I then moved to Dallas, Texas and worked under wedding photographers. I had also worked as a custom black & white and color darkroom printer.(Good 'ol film days!) I really never wanted to do wedding photography but found that you can actually get paid for doing it! At this time all I wanted to do was abstract images. I found I had a fasination shooting time exposures(streaking lights,ect..) glass and cars.

So, I then moved back to upstate New York in 2000 and started my buisness.(Got married at this point and my wife got the ball rolling for us!) I shot my first wedding on my own and found I could be creative in my own way. There is a challenge that is involved with shooting these weddings.(Who in the art world doesn't love challenges?) My wife and I have been shooting weddings every since.

Any chance I get I still shoot lots of abstracts. So I am now posting on this sight a collection of images that have been taken in the past 2 to 3 years. Whether it's paint peeling on a wall, old beat up cars or just simply junk, capturing it as a piece of fine art is my challenge.
