Antoine Roels

Antoine 'Twan' Roels joined the Belgian Air Force in 1965. During the last 15 years of his 38-year long career he has been the official photographer for the BAF - Public Affairs Services. In that function he was the sole photographer allowed to fly the air-to-air photo missions in all the types of BAF aircraft and responsible for the photography in the official BAF publications and countless reports for international aviation books and magazines.

He logged nearly 4000 flying hours for air-to-air photography in over 140 different aircraft types of several air forces and flew and photographed with most of the aerobatic display teams as 'Patrouille de France', 'Red Arrows', 'Frecce Tricolori', 'Patrulla Aguila', 'Patrouille de Suisse', 'Canadian Snowbirds', and 'Biele Albatrosy'.

In the period from 1995 - 1997, he was assigned for most of the aerial photography for the Belgian VRT television production 'Windkracht 10', a 23 episodes long fiction TV series about life, love and adventures of the pilots and crews of the 40th Search and Rescue Squadron of Koksijde AFB.

After his retirement from the Belgian Air Force in 2003, Antoine founded IAPA, the International Aviation Photography Agency, which has the capability to provide any aviation business company with the perfect photography for all their publications.

For his air-to-air assignments he can appeal on the best pilots and most suitable aircraft, -from open canopy training aircraft till fast jets. These allows perfect photoshoot conditions as well for slow aircraft as for the fastest commercial, business or military jets.

Antoine Roels is also member of ISAP, The International Society of Aviation Photographers, society that gathers the leading aviation photographers of the world.
