Born and brought up in India, presently I live in Basingstoke, United Kingdom, pursuing my long forgotten dreams.In the last two years that I have been here, I have had one solo exhibition and five group shows in the town.I am also a member of Basingstoke Art Club.
Going back in time, I was passionate about art since I was a six or seven year old child, always doodling on the back of my school notebooks.Later in my life I could not pursue Fine Arts and trained as a Graphic artist and animator instead. Art took a backseat for about two decades, as I worked and raised my son.It was only in 2009-2010 that I finally returned to my first love- painting. Since then, there has been no looking back.
I am quite happy and contended, painting almost everyday, experimenting with various media and catching up on books and articles on art.
Pencil was where it all started, and I gave my first two come back years to sharpen my skills in drawing with graphite pencil.People,faces and figures have always fascinated me, and these are my main subjects when I am drawing. Apart from pencil, watercolor was the other media that I went on exploring.I loved the medium for its luminosity,softness and transparency.Recently, however I felt the need to experiment more with color and found that soft pastels were the answer! I have fallen in love again, this time with pastels.With pastels I can finally let myself loose, work in more impressionistic way.Though my favorite subject is still human face and figures,I occasionally paint nature and would be venturing into landscapes soon.
