Ata Alishahi is a photographer and digital artist. His interest in photography began at a young age, with people and mountainous rural landscapes being of particular interest. Ever since then he’s been in love with the camera, focusing on learning, then adapting technique and design to suit his inner vision. When digital technology was introduced to the world, Alishahi saw unlimited creative possibility and set about educating himself in computer design and software application. Eventually this expertise combined with his innate creativity and he began designing websites. In the process he taught himself to use a variety of software and this naturally led to expanding his photographic endeavors into the new field of digital art.
Alishahi’s preferred program is Corel Painter IX, which allows him to “appreciate the method and attain similar results without having to master brushes and pigments, and enhances the imagery captured by my lens.” He incorporates Photoshop CS with Painter IX, having found the two are not only compatible but highly complimentary. The user friendly logic and ease of the software allows him create and expand creative potential without the frustration of navigating a difficult program. Alishahi wants to thank both Corel and Adobe for developing such powerful technology and making it available, which have added new frontiers to his artistic vision.
Artist Background
Ata Alishahi began developing his life long interest in photography at the age of 10 and from that point onward has been fascinated with the medium. His first subjects were character studies of friends, family and interesting people he encountered, but also the natural world. In particular, the young Alishahi focused his lens on rural and mountainous regions he loves. Being in the natural world, connecting with earth and heaven bring him the serenity visible in each image he creates.
